Products & Applications
Three material platforms serving composite curing, optical imaging and UV-curable coatings.
Polyetheramine PEA
Polyetheramines are amine compounds carrying terminal amino groups on poly(propylene oxide) / poly(ethylene oxide) backbones of varying molecular weight. This molecular architecture gives them an excellent balance of properties, and they are widely used in polyurea spray systems, in large composite structures and as epoxy curing agents.
Key properties
- Low viscosity for easy infusion and wetting
- High strength and toughness after cure
- Weathering and ageing resistance, stable performance
- Attractive cost-performance ratio
Typical applications
- Wind turbine blades and other large composite structures
- Polyurea protective spray systems
- Epoxy curing agents
- Oil and gas, coatings, adhesives and additives
Technology highlight
Acryl developed its own high-activity, high-selectivity catalyst system and mastered continuous production, achieving stable industrial-scale manufacture of multiple polyetheramine grades. Expert assessment rated the process as internationally advanced.

Cyclic Olefin Polymer COC / COP
A high-performance transparent resin often described as the "gold standard" of optical materials. Through a fully in-house development programme, Acryl mastered both cyclic olefin monomer synthesis and the copolymerisation process, and now has kilotonne-scale production capability for cyclic olefin polymer.
Material advantages
- High light transmittance, close to the theoretical limit in the visible range
- Very low birefringence, minimising distortion in high-resolution lens modules
- Extremely low water absorption and excellent dimensional stability
- Good heat resistance and chemical stability; injection-mouldable for volume manufacture
- Good biocompatibility for pharmaceutical packaging and diagnostic consumables

Optical monomers
The reactive optical material monomers reported under the company’s “optical-grade polymer resins” category. They comprise the isobornyl esters — isobornyl acrylate (IBOA) and isobornyl methacrylate (IBOMA) — together with the cycloaliphatic grades NBOA / NBOMA. Balancing hardness and flexibility, they are core components of UV-curable coatings, inks and adhesives.
Isobornyl acrylate IBOA
Used as a reactive diluent in radiation-curable coatings and inks, IBOA effectively lowers system viscosity, improves processability and enhances levelling. It also offers corrosion and scratch resistance while adding gloss and brightness — hence its wide use in premium automotive UV topcoats.
Isobornyl methacrylate IBOMA
A monomer that unites hardness and flexibility. Its molecular structure gives the resulting polymers outstanding gloss, distinctness of image, scratch resistance, chemical resistance and weatherability.
Novel IBOA NBOA
Chemical name: novel cycloaliphatic acrylate. High Tg (>140 °C), extreme hardness and high gloss, combined with strong weather durability and very low water absorption. It reduces viscosity markedly in acrylic resin synthesis, and as a UV-curable reactive diluent it is notably low in odour.
Novel IBOMA NBOMA
The methacrylate grade corresponding to NBOA, with lower viscosity (about 35 mPa·s at 20 °C) and the same glass transition temperature above 140 °C — suited to coating and optical systems that need hardness and durability without sacrificing flow.
Cycloaliphatic (meth)acrylates NBOA / NBOMA
Monofunctional (meth)acrylate monomers with an alicyclic structure, whose double bond copolymerises with a range of unsaturated monomers; the cycloaliphatic alkoxy group weakens interactions between polymer chains. Typical properties below.
